Identifying the palomino

"How do I know if my camper is a palomino?" A question that I've not yet been asked, but if I ever am, this will be my answer.

Does it look like someone has taken a boat, overturned it, and stuck it on the roof of your van? Or does your Volkswagen have the word Palomino on the back? If the answer to either of these questions is YES, then you could very well have a Palomino camper. You lucky devil!

At last! Great to see a club dedicated to these weird but wonderful campers - you're right about the 'boat on the roof' comment. Someone also said that if the van was playing music, I'd be asked for two 99s and a cornetto!

We love our Palomino van to bits and spend excessive amounts of time and money on keeping it alive. Ours is a proper, practical camper, and certainly no museum-piece, but I think it's fairly cool, nontheless!

These vans are a pretty rare breed by all accounts, and although I've seen a couple in magazines, I've never seen another Palomino conversion in real life. I'd love to see pics of what other owners have done with their Palominos, and I'd also love to hear any further information about them and swap notes.

I hope your club is a great success, Ian. How can we post pictures?

You could sign up for a free flickr account, and post the pictures there.

Or you could email me the pictures and I'll stick them up here.
