James writes to me. He's got a Palomino that makes mine look like a showroom condition Bentley. He's started on the long process of restoring it, despite it having no front seats, side door, or engine.
Unfortunately, it seems that before he discovered that his £400 van was a mighty Palomino, he'd stripped the rotten interior and removed the roof with the intention of turning it into a common or garden pop-top camper.
Hopefully his recent discovery will save this sinner, and restore him to the true path of righteousness.
You can see his photos here. Hopefully, the next set of photos will show that he seen the light, and put the roof back on! Or read about his progress (Registration required)

Oh no! Sacrilege! What a sad sight that is - and seemingly beyond all hope of returning to true Palomino status. It should be interesting to see how the project turns out though.
James, if you're reading this, I don't suppose the van had the original Palomino roof rack, did it? If so I'll gladly buy it from you - I'd love to get hold of one, but Palomino parts don't seem to turn up too often.
Also, if you still have the roof (and if you're not really planning on replacing it), I also need a bit of the black seal that goes around the bottom edge! And if I remember rightly, Alex was after some bunks, and seals for the roof windows....
I think James still has the roof - there's a picture of it in the set. Obviously I'm trying to convince him to put it back where it belongs!
Hi, firstly it seems such a shame to turn a rare, high quality, unusual roof conversion into a pop top, you may even be reducing it's value.
If you're reading this James and decide you still want to convert it, i would be very interested in the roof sky light window/vent on the top of the roof.
Mine is unfortunately sealed up and therefore no use! I would be willing to pay for it obviously
Cheers
Alex
